Traffic at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Magnolia Avenue has become increasingly challenging and hazardous due to residential parking that obscures the vision of drivers. Surrounding residents, including myself, struggle daily with the dangerous situation attempting to navigate the intersection with limited visibility. The current two-way stop is simply insufficient to address the safety concerns that are a constant tension in our everyday lives. Consider this: according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2018, around 40% of motor vehicle crashes occurred at intersections, primarily as a result of inadequate surveillance. By updating our intersection from a two-way stop to a four-way stop, we can make a significant stride towards enhancing safety for all who live and travel around this junction. It’s time we prioritized safety over convenience. Make the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Magnolia Avenue a four-way stop to prevent potential tragedies.
