Implement a Direct Southbound Bus Service from Shoreline to Logan Hyperdome (Busway)
The issue
As a resident of Shoreline, Redland Bay, QLD, Australia, I am faced with a the frustration of the lack of a direct southbound public bus service from Shoreline toward Logan City.
Sadly, residents are forced by TMR to travel northbound first, before making their way south, resulting in laborious and lengthy journeys for those who work in Logan and for those wanting to use the medical, shopping and leisure facilities available at the Hyperdome. A link to the Busway would make commuting to the city more convenient and faster. Most residents have given up on public transport and use their cars instead, adding to the increasing volume of traffic and contributing to local pollution.
The demand for a convenient and practical public transport solution is substantial and urgent with more than 3000 residences, plus businesses expected to be in Shoreline within the next few years.
This is not a request for special treatment; rather an appeal for a basic necessity. According to the Australian Census of 2016, there are approximately 14,000 people residing in Redland Bay, with a high proportion of the population reliant on public transport for work, education, and essential services. Yet, the current routing system is inconvenient and inefficient. This gap in service coverage impacts individuals on an immediate level, leaving many stranded and negatively affecting overall productivity and well-being.
We urgently request the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Queensland to recognise our predicament and act. A direct southbound bus service from Shoreline to Logan Hyperdome (Busway) is not just an allocation of resources, but an investment in the community’s development and well-being, making life easier for many of us.
We call on TMR Queensland to consider our situation and expedite the implementation of the proposed southbound bus route.
Please sign this petition, not only to advocate for improved public transport in our collective interest but also to promote and ensure the betterment of Redland Bay's social and economic environment. Your support could make a change for the better.
