Implement a Cutoff Time at All KinderCare Learning Centers

The Issue

As an employee at one of the KinderCare Learning Centers, I am personally experiencing the challenges that arise from our current open-door policy. Our centers are struggling with maintaining appropriate child-to-staff ratios and managing disruptions during nap time. Parents often arrive unexpectedly during these crucial hours, causing disturbances that wake sleeping children and lead to complaints about missed meals.

The day would run much smoother if we could anticipate when children will be coming in or if they arrived at a more consistent time. This is not just my personal experience but mirrors the concerns of many other centers as well.

Research shows that consistency and routine are crucial for young children's development (American Academy of Pediatrics). Interruptions to their schedule can cause stress and hinder their learning process. Moreover, maintaining appropriate ratios is not only a matter of quality care but also a legal requirement in many states (Child Care Aware of America).

Therefore, we urge KinderCare Learning Centers to revise their open-door policy by implementing a cutoff time for arrivals. This change will ensure better planning, maintain legal ratios, reduce disruptions during nap times, and ultimately provide our children with the best possible learning environment.

Please sign this petition to support this necessary change for all KinderCare Learning Centers nationwide.
