Implement a Cosmetology Program for At-Risk Youth Aged 18-24

The Issue

Statistics show that around 16% of young adults in the US aged 18-24 do not have a High School Diploma or GED (US Census Bureau, 2019). Among these young people, many express a deep interest in hair-care and beauty, as well as entrepreneurial ambitions that lie unrealized due to financial and educational barriers. This petition stems from a personal conviction about the transformative power of vocational training for this demographic. KIDS TRYING TO LIVE non-profit(KTTL) proposition is to establish a Cosmetology Program specifically designed for at-risk youth aged 18-24, who typically would not qualify for financial aid. This initiative will serve more than to equip these young individuals with a trade - by fostering entrepreneurial spirit, we aim to create a Community of Professional Barbers that can better their lives and their communities.

Upon completion, participants will be spurred to consider further education and will be referred to Partnering GED programs. We call on local communities, authorities and educational institutions to consider this proposal, not only to aid these young individuals but take steps towards reducing unemployment and improving the overall economy. Please sign this petition if you believe this initiative is a viable, effective approach or if you have an interest in contributing or joining this program. Your signature could ignite the spark of opportunity for someone in need.
