Immediate EU Action Required Against Blockades Endangering Ukrainian Lives & EU Security
The Issue
To:
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen
European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean
European Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski
High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and a Vice-President, Josep Borrell Fontelles
Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová
European Commissioner for Home Affairs: Ylva Johansson
We, the concerned citizens of the global community, urgently call upon key EU leaders and bodies to address the deliberate blockades on Poland-Ukraine border transport routes. These blockades, significantly orchestrated by individuals and groups with alleged ties to Russian interests, not only disrupt EU security but directly threaten Ukrainian lives by delaying crucial defence supplies, including drones and their components.
The actions of those orchestrating the blockades on the Poland-Ukraine border transport routes, under the pretext of agricultural policy disputes, have now dangerously extended into the digital realm. Social media platforms have seen a surge in accounts, allegedly linked to the same groups supporting these blockades, promoting divisive narratives including calls for Poland's exit from the EU and disseminating deep fake news aimed at deteriorating Poland's relations with Ukraine. These digital tactics not only exacerbate the physical blockades but also threaten the social and political fabric of our societies, leveraging misinformation to fuel division and undermine European unity.
The blockade-induced delays on critical transport routes directly result in the loss of Ukrainian lives. Essential defence supplies, crucial for Ukraine's resistance and protection of its sovereignty, are hindered, thereby compromising the nation's defensive capabilities at a time when every second counts. This obstruction translates into tangible losses on the ground, with the failure to receive timely support significantly enhancing vulnerabilities in the face of aggression. It is a stark reality that these delays, instigated under various guises, are not mere inconveniences but have lethal consequences for countless individuals defending their homeland.
Action required:
Rapid Diplomatic and Operational Response: We urge an immediate, coordinated intervention by the EU to address both the physical blockades and the associated digital misinformation campaigns. This should include collaboration with Polish government representatives, EU officials, and Ukrainian stakeholders to ensure the unobstructed flow of defence supplies to Ukraine.
Combat Digital Disinformation: Demand a robust EU-wide strategy to identify, counter, and take down malicious accounts and misinformation campaigns on social media that seek to destabilize EU member states and distort the reality of Poland-Ukraine relations. This includes holding platforms accountable for quickly addressing deep fake news and divisive content.
Address Underlying Issues and Counter External Interference: Beyond immediate actions, we call for comprehensive solutions that address the grievances of Polish farmers, safeguard critical transport routes, and prevent external interference. This includes thorough investigations into the support networks behind the blockades and digital campaigns, with strong actions taken against any verified external manipulations.
Strengthen EU Resilience and Solidarity: Advocate for enhanced policies and measures to protect the EU against such disruptive tactics in the future, ensuring our collective resilience in the face of attempts to undermine our unity and security, both physically and digitally.

Your support by signing this petition is a stand for saving lives in Ukraine, European unity, and a firm stance against external manipulations aiming to disrupt our collective peace and security.
