Immediate, Decisive Travel Ban/Restrictions NEEDED - Singapore Wuhan Virus

The Issue

With the increasing infection rates and death toll of the Wuhan virus (known scientifically as the 2019-nCoV), as well as the rate at which the virus mutates, strong decisive actions are needed.

This is especially so when infected individuals may show no symptoms (i.e., no fever and cough) or atypical symptoms (e.g., only diarrhea) and are still infectious to others, rendering temperature screenings at airports and customs less-than-effective in detecting infected individuals:

Furthermore, the virus has quite a long incubation period (where it is still infectious even without symptoms), as exemplified in cases whereby visitors to Singapore from affected areas were screened to be healthy upon entry but were subsequently diagnosed to be infected days later when they traveled to Malaysia.

As such, I opine that stronger travel bans/restrictions are needed to preemptively curb the spread of this deadly disease and to prevent a repeat of the SARS tragedy.

I sincerely appeal to the Singapore Government to consider imposing travel bans/restrictions for both inflow from and outflow to all affected countries and regions and not to take any chances; to prioritize public health over all other potential concerns.

Let's do our part to curb the spread of this disease and to protect our loved ones before it is too late. In such trying times, proactive rather than reactive measures are needed.
