Stop Illinois Social Security From Cutting Benefits To Those With Autism

Stop Illinois Social Security From Cutting Benefits To Those With Autism
The Issue
It has become a yearly thing that the Illinois government to psychologically re-evaluate those on the Autism Spectrum after they turn 18 years of age and older in order to continue getting Social Security benefits. The only reason they are doing this is because the state of Illinois is broke money wise. As someone on the Autism Spectrum, I feel this unacceptable and offensive to those that are also on the Autism Spectrum to have to be psychologically re-evaluated when the diagnosis never changes. Illinois government needs to understand the effect of what taking away benefits from those on the Autism Spectrum looks like. Its time to put pressure on our Illinois government officials that say they support Autism Awareness, because they can clearly talk the talk but can they walk the walk. If they can't then we need to find new officials that we can get behind and trust to replace the current officials. For far too long has the Autism community stayed silent as we have been subjected to this questionable treatment from our government that continues to say they support us and our campaigns for awareness. Not to mention that the process of the state hiring psychologists for this is a waste of tax payer money.
We the undersigned:
- Want there to be a law that forbids social security to re-evaluate those on the Autism Spectrum once accepted for benefits at any time.
- Want those on the Autism Spectrum that have been cut already to be accepted once again.
- Are willing to petition for the removal of the Governor of Illinois if this is ignored or allowed to continue while he is in office.
