Say NO to Hate and Bigotry and Amend the current hate crime law

The Issue

Hate crimes are a GROWING but SILENT problem in Illinois. Many hate crimes go unreported or unprosecuted which affect the statistics of how many hate crimes we have per year in our state.  Why does this happen?:

  1. The current Hate Crime law is unclear and Difficult to Prove for Law enforcement and Prosecutors
  2. The current Hate Crime Law is NOT effective at deterring hate. (It's merely a "slap on the wrist" for the offender)

So, what is the Plan?

Fight Hate with A.T.E!

  • A: AMEND current hate crime law so law enforcement and prosecutors have a concise law they can work with
  • T: TRAIN Once we amend the hate crime law, we have something on the books to work with. We can then train our law enforcement officials and prosecutors to effectively prosecute hate crimes
  • E: EDUCATE the public about hate and bigotry and how we can all work towards a better future that encompasses respect for one another and a peaceful co-existence. This process is ongoing at schools and universities

Put and end to the senseless violence against Americans and finally put an end to hate and bigotry by contacting your State Representatives and State Senators to let them know you Support Amending the current Hate Crime Law and that you say NO to Hate!
