Happy New Year everybody!
I'd like to start by thanking everybody who has signed and shared. We are rapidly approaching 4000 signatures, and the daily momentum has remained!!
This Monday, I have an interview regarding El Hefe, and this petition, for an article that will be published by Chicago Eater. We have some serious work to do!
As you may know, El Hefe's legal team has mounted an absurd defense which states the victim was to blame for her attack, and that El Hefe “has no duty to protect others, including Jane Doe Plaintiff, from criminal acts by third parties on their property” or “outside of its establishment.” This is absolutely absurd, and only adds to our case of the toxic and unsafe culture at El Hefe that shows zero concern for the safety of their patrons. You can read the entire article about their claim here: https://chicago.suntimes.com/2019/12/31/21045038/river-north-bar-blames-woman-sex-assault-el-hefe
For this interview, I want to include the voices of those of you who are supporting this movement. Please email me with any talking points, experiences, insight, or any other important talking points that you feel should be included in the interview, as well as discussed in the pending hearing we have upcoming with the ILCC. Please email all related input before Monday morning to: jesse@acityunited.org
Additionally, our numbers are going but I need another push in light of this recent response from El Hefe and as we prepare for a public hearing with the ILCC. SHARE this petition, even if you already have! Talk about it with co-workers and friends! Anybody who wants to sign can find the petition at www.chicagoserviceindustry.com
Thanks again for all your help!
