The Issue

If they can do it to me, they can do it to you.

I worked for just over two years American Airlines. I followed protocol. I had no attendance levels or performance levels. I used my employee travel benefits and missed two hours of work — and for that, I was fired. As outlined in the CWA contract and AA policy this constitute for a 30 day suspension of travel privileges.

I was terminated under the label of “misrepresentation” — even though my emergency contact, my mother (who is listed as both my parent and my official emergency contact), followed company policy by calling in on my behalf when I was unable to. This is outlined in AA’s own documentation. I even sent documentation showing that there was an outage and I rescheduled my time.

During my termination meeting, the manager representing AA, CEM Cynthia, did not turn on her camera — violating company policy for formal proceedings. Even more alarming, she edited my termination letter while reading it to me on the call — a direct violation of federal labor law, specifically Section 8(a)(5) of the National Labor Relations Act, which protects unionized employees from changes in disciplinary terms without proper process. This termination was a dual effort from INT CCM Simon and INT CEM Cynthia.

I am a union member, protected under the CWA. I am not an at-will employee. Yet I was discarded without just cause.

This has had a lasting impact on my mental health. I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression for months prior to this due to actions of management, which have been well documented and I’m facing the trauma of being wrongfully fired. And I know I am not the only one.

This isn’t just about me. This is about every union worker, every American Airlines employee, and every person who deserves transparency, dignity, and fairness in their workplace.

By signing this petition, you’re standing up against:

Abuses of power by management
Wrongful termination of union-protected employees
Violations of labor law and company protocol
The silencing of workers who follow the rules, yet still face retaliation

Help me demand:

  • A full investigation into American Airlines’ termination practices
  • Reinstatement with back pay
  • Accountability for policy violations by management
  • Protection for other employees from similar abuse

American Airlines needs to be reminded: employees are not disposable.

If they can do it to me, they can do it to you. Let’s make sure they can’t!
