Caroline Dias Goncalves should be studying for finals, not sitting in an immigration detention center.

Caroline is a 19-year-old college student at the University of Utah. She was brought to the U.S. at age 7, grew up in Utah, and has an active asylum case pending. She’s never committed a crime.

Yet after a brief traffic stop in Colorado where she was let off with just a warning, ICE agents appeared out of nowhere and detained her.

No warrant. No explanation. No justice.

This feels like a targeted, backdoor deportation — not the due process our country promises. Caroline is a Dreamer and a TheDream.US scholar, one of the best and brightest students striving to make a better life in the only country she’s ever called home.

We demand her immediate release. She belongs in a classroom, not a cell.
