Hi Folks,

I've been in contact with the local area councilor to get comments on land use zoning by the city.  There is HRM owned land in the Aerotech business park owned by HRM but zoning would need to be changed to allow for an arena.  Zoning will likely need to be amended for any potential location based on parcels of land I've been looking at and suggesting to HRM.  

We the area is getting lumped in with the HRM rural recreational strategy planning, which looks to be a problem as the Fall River area is densifying and bringing on public utility water which isn't rural at all.  That may be a barrier, as the HRM staff are leaning on an old 2017 needs report that doesn't account for the surge in development and the changes to how communities have actually been growing out since the pandemic.  

I don't see these as barriers, rather opportunities to open dialogue and perhaps help provide updated information for HRM staff that may not be familiar with the area or what has been happening with Ice Time shortages across HRM.  HRM is a big and complex area to do planning work, and historically likely easy to forget about the Fall River area with recent high profile topics like the centre plan.  

Looks of emails flying back and forth, gathering more information.  Wanted to update folks so everyone know this wasn't going to end with just a petition.
