I was choked by an off-duty WA Policeman - WA Police refuse to charge him
The issue
The police in Western Australia decided whether or not to lay charges against their own kind. This is utterly farcical. The below happened to me but it could happen to anyone.
I beeped an off-duty WA Policeman, Sergeant Glen Morey, in February last year. He followed me to the intersection of West Coast highway and the Boulevarde in City Beach. He left his vehicle - came to my window - called me a "smart prick" amongst other obscenities then told my daughter "hey sweetheart, you know your dad's a fuckwit". He invited me to fight him multiple times. I insisted he return to his vehicle. I finally got out of my vehicle to continue to direct him back to his vehicle. When this didn't work I tried to leave. He blocked access to my vehicle and when i tried to move him shouted "that's assault" and launched into me, initially putting me in a headlock before choking me almost to the point of unconsciousness. This was photographed by my daughter before she threw her phone to the ground and jumped on his back to help me get his hands off my throat. I reported the assault immediately at Scarborough Beach police station, as did my daughter. The next day Internal Affairs called me, advised me that the animal was a police officer and organised a meeting wherein they asked me if I wanted them to handle it "internally" of allow the legal system to run its course. I wanted him charged and couldn't imagine any other outcome yet 18 months later and despite being told by the Corruption and Crime Commission and the Parliamentary Inspector that there was more than sufficient evidence to charge this pig, WA Police refuse to charge him.
If it was me, or any other member of the WA public, choking a serving police officer then all available charges would have been laid immediately by the WA police.
