It is time such savage acts are brought to a stop and the offenders be punished in the most serious manner that can serve as a lesson for the other cruelty perpetrators.

On 27th May, 2013, Rheo, a community dog of Pashabhai Park, Baroda, was hammered on the head with sticks because he was sleeping in the premises of Race Course Tower (adjacent to Pashabhai Park). Under excruciating pain and trauma, he bit a shopkeeper as he ran for his life. He was battered further by a mob led by Mr. Sanjay Kapoor (owner of ‘Fusion Bites’ a food joint in Race Course Tower) and incited by Mr. Ramlal (owner of Shreeji Communications and Xerox, in Race Course Tower). Before Mrs. Hansa Roy(Co-opted Member, Animal Welfare Board of India) could reach for Rheo's rescue, he had disappeared because the culprits were after his life. When she finally managed to trace him, he was staggering and his mouth was oozing blood. He was immediately taken for treatment to VSPCA. He died on his way in the ambulance itself and the doctor’s diagnosis reports have confirmed death due to brain hemorrhage as a result of head injury.
The dog was vaccinated against rabies. He was one of the most docile and meek dog. Nobody had ever even heard his bark.
A police complaint was lodged by Mrs. Hansa Roy at the Gotri police station, citing Mr. Ramlal for inciting the people for killing Rheo and against Mr. Sanjay Kapoor who was seen carrying sticks with the other members of the mob at Race Course Tower, for killing Rheo. The two main culprits are known dog haters and are a serious threat to the other dogs. The complaint has now been registered as an FIR under section 154 Cr.P.C at the Gotri police station, Baroda dated 28-05-13.
I want you to take a stern action against the culprits for the heinous crime they conducted. Please be our support in the fight for justice for Rheo. It is time such savage acts are brought to a stop and the offenders be punished in the most serious manner that can serve as a lesson for the other cruelty perpetrators.
