The reason that I would like to change the plural of starfish from "starfish" to "starfi" is to make common conversations less confusing. The plural of a word should not be the same as the singular. I would like to know if someone is talking about one starfish or multiple "starfish" by only looking at the one word. This is a common problem in my everyday conversations and I am the only one who is willing to stand up and take charge to fix this global underappreciation of the English language.
