Am an FGM survivor who lost a talent through FGM which is a big loss to my county, country and Africa.

I am from a minority tribe in Kenya "Maasai"community,our culture is deeply rooted starting from ear piercing, teeths removal,moranism and FGM.Except moranism for young circumcised men personally i have gone through the rest.Alot of blood shedding and pain is experienced in all.

It happened after my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education.I was lied that there is prayer going on at our home.In the evening i was forced to sit down on a skin and my head was shaved using a lazorblade,i was told I was to undergo the cut very early in the morning.I couldn't send a message to be resqued since there were no phones during that time in our community,i was forced to stay with the cutter and other girls and women in our Manyatta until 5am in the morning when i was taken outside for my body to be cold.At around 6am i was pushed inside the house and women undressed me, by force and i was naked Infront of all girls and women and i was very embarrassed,a girl poured water on me and i almost fainted,it was the water that was in a pot and a metal was inside the whole night,that water was just like fridge water now.

I was forced to sit down on the skin and the women hold me tightly on the hands,legs and back immidietly the cutter started cutting me and i struggle to stand i got so many injuries on my legs.My legs were tied with ropes because i wasn't calm  😭😭and the women overpowered me, FGM doesn't have a formula it depends on the number of women present there , every woman pointing at my private part saying remove this part 😭😭I bled and bled and the cutter poured cold milk and applied honey and sugar to the part.As i stood i felt that my right leg is weak.I didn't heal quickly and it was so bad.

I still remember the healing process which cows urine were used to clean my private part.

After the cut i could not run and participate in athletics and soccer to date.Since i enjoyed i become bored and start dropping academically.I faced alot of stigmatization in school and was being punished because the teachers thought i just don't want to participate in athletics and ball games.

I ended up in marriage after highschool.

In my county there are so many cases of early pregnancies which lead to teenage mothers who can't support themselves and their kids,most of them end up in abusive marriages and forced ones and all is because of FGM.

In Kenya in every 7 women and girls age 15_49 live with some form of FGM/c majority done by TBAs.

FGM is now being done in health facilities and it's named"Swahili"according to a research done in Suswa ward Narok East constituency of Narok county.

For tinhumane act to end i request the county government of Narok to put up operational girls resque centers in Narok East constituency.

The suspected cases will be resqued and be in safe homes and reunited with the parents or guardians after a talk with authorities.

Our girls will be running there for resque and the law breakers will be summoned and arrested.

This will help our girls not to loose their talents.

Our girls will have time to study without fear and once they graduate they get to the jobs industry.

I started this because i don't want any girl/woman to pass through FGM even my enemy.FGM is a violation of human rights and it should stop.

I started this because I don't want any person on earth 🌍 to loose a talent through FGM.

As a woman i really suffered alot because of FGM.

I want it end.
