I am not against change at West Hants. I fully understand why the Board of Trustees has considered new facilities at the club. I accept that the club may need to introduce more gym and studio space, as well as more padel courts. I also accept that in a multi-sports club it is impossible to please everyone.

However I am signing this petition because I want transparency from the Board.

I would like the opportunity to meet with the Trustees and to ask them questions about their plan, including:

1) Why was there no member consultation and why were they not even informed of this hugely significant proposed change until a few days before it went public on the council's planning portal? Is this consistent with regular Board promises of increased transparency?

2) What is the Trustees' vision for West Hants? How will the provision of these new facilities further the club's charitable aims of "the advancement of education of children and young people in particular, but not exclusively, by providing coaching in the sport of tennis and supporting schools to achieve education outcomes within their physical education syllabi"?

4) How much has the scheme cost the club so far and did the Board get pre-planning advice?

5) How much will the build cost? How will it be financed? The  club still owes over £3million to the LTA from the early 2000s, so how will it pay off any new loan on top of this debt?

6) Will member subscriptions need to be increased to fund this project, by how much and when?

7) Will the Board publish the results of its analysis into the usage of the existing gym, studio and padel courts that apparently contributed to the decision to build these new facilities?

8) How will the car park, bar, restaurant, changing rooms and other common club areas cope with an increase in membership levels?

9) How will the new opening hours of 0630 to 2330 impact local residents?

10) How long will the build take and what will be the impact on members during this period?
