A study from the UK has found that a third dose of vaccine can provide up to 88% protection against hospitalisation from infection by the Omicron variant. The sudden surge in the number of COVID-19 cases around the world, countries going into lockdown again, is reason enough to ask for a vaccine booster dose. Kudos to the government for their excellent precautionary third doses programme. About 10 lakh doses were given on Day 1 till 8 PM, January 10. Unfortunately, this isn't enough. Due to the Omicron-driven Covid surge, many people who are fully vaccinated are catching covid for the second time.
