15 million without voting rights in Europe

Das Problem

Democracy lives through participation. Whoever lives in our communities is affected and needed - the passport should be no reason of exclusion.
We want a Europe with equal participation for all!

15 million people are European citizens, but un-equal as citizens. They contribute to the well-being of their communities, but they are excluded from the right to vote as well as from the right to stand as candidate. They are excluded from the basic principle of our democracy.
Why? Because they do not have the citizenship of an EU-state. More than 15 million citizens in the European Union are excluded from basic democratic participation: the right to vote.

I PARTICIPATE campaign across Europe: events & collecting signatures. Six partners from Italy, Spain, Greece, Germany, Portugal and Great Britain form the project network I PARTICIPATE. We investigated the conditions of political participation of non-EU-citizens. One of our central recommendations for the integration policy is the introduction of local voting rights to all immigrants after a certain period of residency in their host country.
The participation of foreign citizens in elections promotes integration and expresses social and political equality. We are going to show a public presence to raise the awareness of political participation, talk to you and ask for your signature for our petition and your participation at our events.

Give your signature:
I support the political participation of citizens - regardless of nationality.
I support the introduction of local voting rights for all citizens who have previously not been eligible to vote on grounds of nationality.

The signatures will be handed over to national integration ministers/authorities of the participating countries and the European Parliament.

Let's work for change. Together. NOW!
