It’s been a long time! I hope you are doing well. 

I need your help! 

I’m excited to tell you that next week the Chief Medical Officer on climate change will lead a special briefing for MPs on climate action to “protect health and reduce strain on the NHS”.  

The briefing will be hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change. It will be led by the UK’s lead chief medical officer on climate, Professor Sir Gregor Smith, with presentations from Professor Sir Andy Haines from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; Rosamund Kissi-Debrah, whose young daughter Ella died 10 years ago this month due to air pollution, and climate scientist and former director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, Professor Kevin Anderson. 

UK health leaders are calling on all MPs to attend the briefing. Please add your voice and make sure your MP attends.

I also encourage you to follow up the letter to your MP with a phone call, or even go one step further and visit your MP’s constituency office, to stress the importance of this briefing.

We need to create a groundswell of people urging their MPs to attend. Please also tag your MP in any social media posts you might make about the briefing. Social media is a great way to put polite pressure on our MPs to attend this critical briefing. 

The briefing will include a Question and Answer session, which will be held under Chatham House Rules.
