My teen daughter has attempted suicide 12 times.

Last time, as she lay unconscious in hospital, I thought I was saying goodbye. Her mental illness makes her a danger to herself and others - we now have to lock her in an empty room at night, it’s a daily fight to keep her safe.

As a mum, I feel like I am failing her. It’s breaking my heart to have to restrict her in this way to keep her safe. But I have no option - the NSW Government refuses to fund the long-term treatment that she needs.

We live in a rural community in NSW, the nearest psychiatric service is over two hours away - there’s just no help out here for teens with mental health problems.

I am doing everything I can to stop my daughter from taking her own life - but I am desperate now. She needs long-term professional help before it’s too late.
