The Issue

Climbing Over the Mountains Together
A Petition for Fairness, Humanity, and Accountability
I immigrated to Canada in 1987 after being selected by a Federal Immigration Officer who believed my culinary skills and knowledge could positively contribute to Canadian society.

Like many immigrants, I worked hard to:

build businesses,
support my family,
adapt to a new culture,
and create a better future for my children.
In 2012, after my divorce, I relocated with my two daughters from Montreal to the Village of Standard, Alberta, where I purchased and operated a small hotel business.

Unfortunately, over the following years, I became involved in ongoing municipal disputes, legal conflicts, emotional hardship, financial losses, and mental health struggles.

One major dispute involved a mobile home temporarily placed on my hotel property in 2016. The Village removed it, imposed moving and storage fees, and later added those charges into my property tax account. Over several years, those fees accumulated to approximately $29,000, eventually leading to threats of public auction proceedings against my hotel property.

I believe these actions were inconsistent with the spirit of Alberta Municipal Government legislation, particularly because the municipality of village office of Standard already knew the mobile home had legally fallen under municipal responsibility under Section 610 of the Municipal Government Act.

Another long-term issue involved street snow repeatedly being dumped onto both of my properties for years, causing ongoing damage and additional hardship.

As the disputes escalated, I experienced increasing financial pressure, business losses, emotional exhaustion, and legal difficulties. Eventually, I could no longer afford legal counsel and became self-represented while also trying to support my daughters through university.

In June 2025, due to serious health and mental health concerns, I was emergently relocated from the Village of Standard to Calgary through a senior housing support program.

Shortly afterward, notices connected to Alberta Land Titles were placed on my properties, locks were changed, and my realtor and liquidator were unable to access the properties to continue selling business and family assets. And, they just simply stick both of my properties without serve me...

Another major difficulty involved the handling of related complaints and legal proceedings. What initially began as a harassment-related criminal complaint was later redirected into civil proceedings. As a self-represented individual facing language barriers, financial hardship, and emotional exhaustion, I often felt discouraged and overwhelmed by complicated legal procedures, technical rules, and the inability to continue affording legal counsel.

I attempted to seek assistance through:

Alberta Human Rights processes,
the Alberta Ombudsman,
legal proceedings,
and other government channels.
However, despite years of effort, I often felt unable to fully present my concerns within systems that are extremely difficult for ordinary self-represented individuals to navigate.

Over time, these experiences deeply affected:

my business,
my financial stability,
my family life,
and my mental health.
Today, after surviving emotional collapse, isolation, hospitalization, and years of legal struggles, I continue sharing my experiences publicly — not only for myself, but also for:

immigrants,
self-represented individuals,
vulnerable people,
and ordinary citizens struggling silently inside complicated systems.
My goal is not hatred or revenge.

My goal is:

fairness,
accountability,
humanity,
compassion,
and constructive public discussion.
I hope my experiences may encourage:

better communication between systems and citizens,
stronger mental health awareness,
fair treatment of self-represented individuals,
and greater understanding toward immigrants adapting to Canadian society.
Because many people around us are silently climbing mountains we cannot see.

I also attempted to seek assistance through the Alberta Human Rights Commission and especially the Alberta Ombudsman regarding my concerns connected to municipal conduct and related investigations. However, I continued feeling unheard and overwhelmed by the systems and procedures involved.

At the same time, my personal and family life was also deeply affected during these years of struggle. Due to emotional, financial, and living difficulties connected to the ongoing situation, my children were eventually relocated through the school system into foster care support. During this period of loneliness and emotional vulnerability, I also experienced serious relationship and family breakdowns that created additional hardship in my life.

Despite everything, I continue speaking publicly not only for myself, but also for:

immigrants,
minority communities,
self-represented individuals,
and ordinary people struggling silently inside complicated systems.
My hope is to encourage:

fairness,
accountability,
humanity,
mental health awareness,
and better understanding between systems and vulnerable communities.

Alberta Human Rights(阿省人权委员会)
Alberta Ombudsman(阿省监察专员)

self-represented individuals(自我诉讼者),
