In every court proceeding, judges granted relief in favor of the village and ordered me — the alleged victim — to pay the village’s legal costs, while I was also required to bear my own legal expenses and absorb the damages caused to my family and business. This compounded my financial ruin and denied me meaningful access to justice.
This prolonged experience has caused severe trauma, including hospitalization, persistent nightmares, and diagnosed major depressive and anxiety disorders.
Key Incidents and Allegations
1. Abuse of Authority by Mayor Alan Larsen (2012 onward)
Mayor Larsen, who served approximately 12 years and whose family comprised a significant portion of the village population, allegedly declared publicly in my business: “I am the king in this village. My words are the rules you have to follow.” He demanded that I keep my bar open at his discretion, despite regulatory obligations under the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC). When I refused to violate provincial regulations, I believe this triggered retaliatory actions.
2. Illegal Snow Dumping on My Properties (2012–2019)
Municipal staff repeatedly dumped street snow onto both of my properties without authorization beginning in 2012. This continued until 2019, when I invoiced the village for illegal dumping and asserted ownership rights concerning a mobile home unlawfully placed on my hotel property. The village became the legal owner of that mobile home on August 22, 2016.
3. Improper Development Permit Demands and Threats
The village demanded a development permit for renovations to an existing patio that did not legally require one. Despite my compliance, the application was refused, and I was threatened with enforcement action. A building safety inspector later confirmed that no permit was required.
4. Municipal Interference with My Business
The village allegedly used its influence to support competing businesses by encouraging grocery stores to serve meals, facilitating new restaurant operations, extending arena food services, constructing additional facilities, and enabling municipal officials or associates to open competing businesses that directly displaced my operations.
5. Blocking Historic Designation and Tourism Promotion
Despite my payment of $3,000 in processing fees, the village blocked the designation of my hotel as a historic site. They also denied listing the village and my hotel on the Boomtown tourism website, despite my willingness to pay the annual fee.
6. Public Defamation and Business Interference
Mayor Larsen publicly accused my business of serving unsafe food, prompting inspections that found no violations. He allegedly encouraged community members to stop supporting my business, contributing to reputational harm and loss of customers.
7. Interference with Residential Tenancy and Business Promotion
Municipal officials allegedly interfered with my residential tenancy arrangements, removed my business from municipal promotional materials, and excluded it from village celebrations and digital promotions.
8. Obstruction of Development and Investment Projects
The village allegedly blocked multiple economic development initiatives I proposed, including wellness facilities, retirement housing, agricultural technology projects, museums, and other investor-backed projects.
Escalation into Legal Harassment
9. Mobile Home Dispute and Legal Actions (2016–2024)
Despite becoming the legal owner of the mobile home in 2016, the village continued charging me storage fees under Municipal Government Act s. 610 and later auctioned my hotel in 2020. This led to extensive litigation:
a. At a pre-trial hearing, my injunction to stop the auction was denied, my counterclaim dismissed, and legal costs awarded to the village.
b. Village counsel pursued enforcement through the Alberta Law Society based on a disputed pre-trial ruling.
c. My subsequent Statement of Claim was struck for procedural reasons during a period of documented mental health impairment.
d. I deposited 2021–2023 property taxes into a trust account and offset them against unpaid illegal snow dumping invoices.
e. The village hired a tax collection agency alleging arrears while ignoring the offset.

I was emergency relocated to Grace Bankview Seniors Housing and attempted to secure legal counsel, but the complexity of ongoing litigation and my health condition prevented representation.
12. Property Seizure Without Service (November 13, 2025)
The village allegedly persuaded Alberta Land Titles to seize both of my properties without serving me notice. Locks were changed and yellow notices posted, blocking all sale efforts.
13–15. Liquidator and Realtor Obstruction
My liquidator confirmed she was denied access due to changed locks. Both my realtor and liquidator notified the village that these actions were causing further financial harm.
16–17. Urgent Injunction Denied (January 12, 2026)
I filed an urgent injunction in King’s Bench. The village argued I could not represent my own corporation, Sunny Investment Group Inc., despite being its sole shareholder. The judge struck out my case, leaving the village in possession of my properties, assets, and personal belongings.
