UNITED TOGETHER AGAINST INJUSTICE
Dear Supporters,
I sincerely appreciate the encouragement and support I have received from all of you. Some people have asked why my case has been ongoing for years without reaching a fair conclusion. Today, I want to share the reasons, which I recently came to understand with the help of the Alberta Pro Bono Court Support Program.
Why Justice Has Been So Hard to Obtain
1. Self-Representation:
I have learned that most judges are not supportive of self-represented individuals. Since judges come from the legal profession, they naturally prefer cases handled by lawyers. Representing myself has unfortunately reduced my chances of being treated fairly in court.
I never intended to self-represent. This situation began when the Village of Standard created legal harassment on January 5, 2020, abusing the Municipal Government Act and illegally auctioning my hotel. They had already removed a mobile home from my property years earlier, in July 2016.
At first, I believed this would be easily corrected with legal help. I hired my first lawyer, thinking he could stop the wrongdoing. However, the Village Office, using my property tax payments, hired their own lawyer to play procedural tricks. They accused my lawyer of failing to reply to an email on April 16, 2020, and used this as a pretext to schedule an auction of my hotel.
I then turned to Legal Shield, who referred me to Mr. Simon Muller of McLeod Law Firm. Mr. Muller assured me he could stop the Village Office’s actions before court proceedings, even offering to do it free of charge. Out of gratitude, I insisted on paying him and immediately gave him a $5,000 retainer.
Unfortunately, after receiving the payment, Mr. Muller disappeared. Not only I, but even an officer from the Alberta Human Rights Commission (AHRC), could not contact him, despite his promises to act on my complaint. The AHRC extended deadlines twice to give him time, but he never followed through. He only reappeared briefly to file an injunction to delay the auction, claiming the Village Office ignored his communications.
Support and Next Steps
Through the Pro Bono Court Support Program, volunteer lawyers advised me to continue filing complaints with the Alberta Law Society and recommended finding a strong lawyer who is willing to stand up against government and court injustices. I am still searching. If you know of a reliable lawyer who is unafraid to challenge corruption and abuse of authority, I would greatly appreciate your referral.
A Call for Unity
I want to encourage anyone else who has suffered injustice—especially at the hands of government or the courts—to connect with me at ucma1668@gmail.com.
Individually, it is difficult to achieve justice and even harder to make our voices heard. But if we stand united and speak out collectively—especially through social media—we can draw attention to these issues and demand that our systems serve citizens with fairness, kindness, faith, and justice.
My Commitment
I am prepared to bring the Village of Standard before the Supreme Court of Canada if the Alberta Court of Appeal continues to deny fair justice. Recently, the Village has even started another round of legal harassment through the Court of King’s Bench, where a judge ruled I could no longer sue them despite their repeated abuse of law and authority against me and my business, the Standard Hotel.
I have already filed to appeal this injustice, and I will keep everyone updated through my petition:

With God’s blessing, I remain determined to fight for justice—not just for myself, but for all of us who deserve to live in peace, dignity, and fairness.
With gratitude,
