Reminder, this petition is not just to replace one Columbus statue but to replace symbols of false historical information, and to stop racism and white supremacy. With the events that happened at the Capitol this January, it is an example of what happens when you preach false information, hate and violence towards others. Local history plays an important role, not just for a town but for world history. I hope for this petition to not only give Jupiter Hammon the legacy and reputation he deserves, but to inspire people to learn about their own hometowns history.
