Petition for Mississippi to recognize the Armenian genocide

Petition for Mississippi to recognize the Armenian genocide

The Issue

The Armenian genocide was apart of the 30 year genocide of Turkey's Christian minorities from 1894-1924 leading to 3.5 million deaths and 3 million deportations, half of both were Armenians. Only 49 out of 50 US states recognize the genocide. Mississippi is the last state yet to recognize it, once Mississippi does the USA will officially recognize the genocide and the rest of the world will follow suite, 30 other countries currently do, it will also pave way for the world to recognize the other atrocities of the 30 year genocide. Such as the Greek genocide, Assyrian genocide, Hamidian massacres, Mt. Lebanon famine, and deportation of 1 million Palestinian Christians. This will also finally hold turkey accountable for its fascist policies towards Christians and the lie that it is a secular state. Because the genocide didn't stop in 1924, it's ongoing. Turkey targeted Greeks and Armenians again in the Istanbul pogrom in 1955, and the invasion and ongoing occupation of Cyprus in 1974, and it won't stop there, "We'd do it again," "I will through Greeks into the sea" "We'd remove Armenian traitors again" are quotes from Turkey's fascist dictator Erdogan earlier this year. Whose also in the process of islamifying all of Turkey's historical Greek and Armenian churches such as the Hagia Sophia's of Trabzon and Istanbul, and the Armenian Cathedral of Ani. While Germany criminalizes Holocaust denial, Turkey criminalizes Armenian genocide recognition. For over 100 years the world didn't care, Hitler even said himself on the eve of the Holocaust, "who still recognizes the Armenians." Never again means never again, and while we've prevailed over fascism in America and Europe, it's time to prevail over fascism in the middle east. The graves of millions of Christians are still awaiting justice.
