Fantastic news! Today we learnt that the majority of bricks will be saved and built into a permanent lasting structure during the development of Hulls fruit market area. Although it is on offer for people to go and collect a brick before work is begun on a project with the remainder, we would like to make a final plea for people to only take a brick that belongs to them and not take them at random as many parents have decided to leave them there so that they can be built into the lasting project. We would like to say a massive big thankyou to Martin Green and the city of culture team for making this project possible and for hearing us and agreeing to build with the bricks. Another big thankyou to the Wienerberger company for supplying, storing and casting the bricks to make this possible in the first place. To Wykeland Beal we thank you so much for offering to incorporate the bricks into the fruit market development, what a fitting place for them to be placed in the heart of the city of culture area. To Rebecca Thompson and the chartered institute of buildings, thankyou for campaigning with us, backing us and offering to save these bricks, you kept us motivated and full of promise. To the hull daily mail, radio humberside and BBC look north, thankyou for the publicity and for putting us in touch with the right people. To councillor Stephen Brady, thankyou for listening to us and supporting the campaign. And the biggest thankyou of all goes to all of you for sharing and signing the petition, we have shown that a collective voice can make big things happen if you believe in your cause! Thankyou so much Carla Coyle & Claire Beard
