Hi all, It's been a while since my last update. I have been through a bit of a busy time, what with writing books, getting an online business going and supporting my mom in hospital. However, I am back with a vengeance. Some of you will remember my update on 4th July 2016, where I brought the fact to your attention that Merck has made more mistakes than "just" Bravecto. I wrote about Nobivac 4, which has caused adverse reactions in many puppies. You may read the update here: https://www.change.org/p/bravecto-flea-tick-treatment-should-be-removed-from-the-market-without-delay/u/17163896 Well, it seems that more "secrets" about this multi-million dollar drug manufacturer have already been revealed. You may well remember the recall of Vioxx a decade or two ago by Merck because of the drastic side effects caused by the drug; side effects such as heart attacks, strokes and death. If you have missed all the hype about that, read about it in the following article: https://www.drugwatch.com/vioxx/ "So what does this have to do with Bravecto", you may ask. First, let me tell you about Vioxx. The big "secret" around this drug Vioxx was not the side effects caused by it, or even the severity or the magnitude of the side effects involved. All of this came under the light when the drug was recalled anyway. The big "secret", revealed during the time preceding the process of trying to get Merck to withdraw the drug, was the fact that this so-called "big pharma" company has created a "hit list" of medical professionals who criticized the drug while it was under investigation, and even before that. According to "The Australian", multiple emails were discovered that contained lists of doctors' names, with words such as "neutralise," "neutralised" or "discredit" next to these names. These emails were shared among Merck employees. In my opinion, given the fact that one particular email stated the phrase "We may need to seek them out and destroy them where they live ...", this could only mean that Merck was planning to "destroy" or "discredit" these doctors for criticizing Vioxx and/or refusing to prescribe the drug. If you would like to read more about the "hit list", you may do so by reading the following article: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/merck-created-hit-list-to-destroy-neutralize-or-discredit-dissenting-doctors/ But my concern is not with Vioxx. After all, the drug has been abolished for good and won't plague humanity anymore. My concern is with Bravecto, and my question to you is the following: Are we going to allow a drug that is still shamelessly being distributed, even after several reports of adverse effects and/or deaths of precious Canine pets following the administration of this drug, to destroy the lives of our best friends? I for one have already made the decision that no pet of mine will ever have to face the neuro-toxin contained in Bravecto. I hope that you will follow suite. Watch the following video to listen to a recent broadcast about Bravecto. The video was posted on Facebook by Mike van de Sande who has lost his dog Rico to Bravecto. Thank you for posting Mike! The video is in Dutch, but there are English subtitles. It was originally posted on Vimeo by H. Breederland: https://www.facebook.com/groups/isbravectosafe/permalink/422583788096757/ After listening to the evidence against Bravecto and Merck CEO's attempt to "disimplicate" the company I could, in my opinion, not reach any conclusion but that this is once again, as in the case of Vioxx, an attempt by this company to hide important facts from the public about (yet another) one of their products; facts that people SHOULD know before using this drug on their precious Canine (and now also Feline) friends. Ticks cause deadly diseases, and you want to do whatever you possibly can to prevent your friend contracting any of these horrid diseases. The first line of defense would be to keep the tick from getting onto your pet in the first place. The fact that Bravecto does NOT keep the pests from getting onto your best friend (Bravecto is meant to kill, not repel) should be the most important consideration before you buy a product that can only control parasites when the parasites bite your pet in order to die from the neuro-toxin in your pet's blood. Let me repeat that in different words: Bravecto DOES NOT repel parasites. Bravecto works by killing the parasite AFTER it has attached to your pet. This means that your dog can suffer adverse effects caused by the drug (remember that it is a neuro-toxin) AND then still contract a tick borne disease. In other words, a "double whammy"! Are you willing to take the chance? I sure as hell am not!! Also listen to the featured video by Mike van de Sande. Thanks again, Mike! https://vimeo.com/192352310 Until I speak to you again, take care. And once again, I promise to NOT declare a false victory on this petition. The ONLY true victory would be for the drug Bravecto to be removed from society, as Vioxx was. Antoinette
