The campaign to Save Leather Lane from HS2 continues to go from strength to strength; Bucks resident Carol Anne has shown that anyone can stand up and give a voice to trees and wildlife and, in her case, bats!
After winning the well-respected Guardian Angel award from the Guardian Newspaper back in July, she has gone on to speak with local press and radio stations about her journey with setting up the Campaign to Save Leather Lane to protect the trees and wildlife that depend on this vital line of veteran oaks.
In her live interview with Bucks Live Carol-Anne made clear the reasons why the veteran oak trees and corridor must remain- we are in a time of climate crisis and huge biodiversity loss – every single veteran oak tree can support 2,300 different wildlife species and provides a vital role in capturing carbon and retaining water. Collectively Leather lane provides a vital wildlife corridor in a landscape decimated by HS2. In particular, it is a vital bat corridor and home to the rare and endangered barbastelle bat which has lost habitat in the area.
Every month, local residents have joined the Campaign’s bat walk to see the bats for themselves. We can come together to protect our nature and endangered wildlife for our children and future generations. Please sign up and support!
