The campaign to Save Leather Lane from HS2 continues to go from strength to strength

Bucks resident Carol Anne has shown that anyone can stand up and give a voice to trees and wildlife and, in her case, bats!

After winning the well-respected Guardian Angel award from the Guardian Newspaper back in July, Carol-Anne has gone on to speak with local press and radio stations about her journey setting up the Campaign to Save Leather Lane to protect the trees and wildlife that depend on this vital line of veteran oaks.

In her interview with Vee from Chiltern Voice Radio on Friday 5 August, Carol-Anne made clear the reasons why the veteran oak trees and corridor must remain- we are in a time of climate crisis and huge biodiversity loss – every single veteran oak tree can support 2,300 different wildlife species and provides a vital role in capturing carbon and retaining water. Carol-Anne set out how the Campaign came up with an engineering solution that would not only protect the irreplaceable ecology of the Lane but also allows HS2 to stick to their own Environmental Policy.

Listen out for future coverage of the Campaign on Chiltern Voice Radio. As Vee said “this is not about going head to head but rather getting heads together to look intelligently and progress in a way that conserves ecology.”

The Campaign also saw coverage on Bucks Live: see the article HERE: https://tinyurl.com/mswk99ya
