On Friday 12th November I went down to Pall Mall in London with my petition. I presented it to the office of the Commonwealth Games Federation and handed it in person to the reception desk. Finally, after seven years of networking, travelling to sports events and corresponding with sports organisations I have done everything that I need to do here. The next thing that I can hope for is for President Dame Louise Martin and the executive committee to contact me and acknowledge that they have read it. Afterwards, I hope to take the campaign further with a view to pushing my objective further.
On the same day I went to Pall Mall I got an email from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games about my application to volunteer there. I did not get an interview and it looks like I won't be carrying on as a sports event volunteer. Now I am not that downhearted about it, because I am glad to be doing something that is more in keeping with my objective. I should not be volunteering as a games attendant, I should be an ambassador for the Commonwealth Games Federation. Since I am well experienced in political activism, campaigning for archery, blogging, journalism and networking I should be doing a volunteer role promoting the value of the Commonwealth Games to the nation-states that play there.
So I am going to work out a way to carry on campaigning for the Commonwealth Games in a way that shows the value of sports for civic justice and world unity, just like I ran my core archery campaign for the Commonwealth Games. Maybe Dame Louise Martin will recruit me to serve the Commonwealth in some grand capacity.
Let it be, that archery will be seen at the Commonwealth Games yet again.
