Dissapointed with Craig Pawson's decision to award Man City a penalty, after the clash between Rayan Aït-Nouri and Josko Gvardiol. For me, I think Rayan gets off that clash the worst, than Gvardiol. It's clear Rayan has gone to kick the ball, miscues the ball slightly. Then Gvardiol just barges into him. If anything it should have been a free kick to Wolves. And a yellow for Gvardiol.
Craig Pawson, nonchalantly points to the spot. And Erling Haaland isn't really going to miss from 12 yards out. Yet, every decision, every 50/50 decision. Craig Pawson was just piling on the suffering for Wolves. Just gifting Man City penalties, and free kicks, and wasn't being objective. I understand Man City are a better team than Wolves. Yet he was clearly showing preferential treatment to Man City.
The FA clearly have some kind of agenda against Wolves. The first penalty decision as one of the most baffling, moments of Wolves football history. When it comes to FA decisions. It's even slightly more baffling than the decision to give offside, with the corner. When we were going to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup.
Now, what did Craig Pawson expect? Did he expect to ref this game, in the way he did, and not get any criticism. Or did he ref the game in the way he did to get criticism. To grab the spotlight, because he wants the attention. Either way, this standard of officiating. I wouldn't expect on a Sunday League match. Let alone a professional football game. With two professional football teams, playing against each other. Alan Shearer was right when he said, 'the standard of officiating this season, is well below where it should be'. Yet it's not just Craig Pawson. The officiates on VAR duty that day. Were quick to get in on the act. To help to award the second penalty. For me, the second penalty. I reckon. The ref hasn't given it. So, they should stick with the onfield decision. Was it a clear and obvious error? I am not sure it was. There was contact. Yet, what I really want to send a clear statement across is that football is a contact sport. You have to allow a certain amount of contact to let the game flow. Now, if football wasn't a contact sport. I wouldn't be writing this. Because it would then be clear that, these things and decisions have to happen. Yet when football is a contact sport. You have to give allowances for coming's together, clashes, and when players just collide into each other.
The O'Nana punch on Sasa, was described as a 'coming together'. Even though the Manchester goal keeper clearly swings a punch at Sasa, and knocks him on the ground. Not the first time he has done this either. Simon Hooper was in charge that day. He was very dismissive to wave the penalty appeal away, and very rude to the Wolves players. Telling them to 'go away'. Loudly, and just being genuinely unprofessional. He then walks over to give Gary a yellow card. Welcome to the Premier Leauge. What is it with these officials and these Manchester Clubs. I know Manchester is a big city, and both teams, (Manchester United, and Manchester City). Are both big teams, and good teams, have a lot of money, and have a lot of supporters. And status, and the list goes on. Yet, the officials are clearly, just, looking at Wolves and thinking. 'Ah it's just a club from the midlands, just a small club from the Midlands, and they aren't going to do anything if we make a decision against them.' Well, we will be protesting lawfully. And there are already plans this summer to go on protests. And this is going to happen. Because Wolves fans are sick and tired, of the standard of officiating, is sucking the life out of the game.
Wolverhampton is a working class city. The Wolves fans, spend a lot of money out of their hard earned wages, to see away games. And when they see performances like that. You don't even blame half of the fans for leaving when they did. Craig Pawson, should evaluate the way he refs games. And Stuart Attwell was on VAR duty that day. His Assistant on VAR: Natalie Aspinall. During the second penalty. They were both adamently yelling in the ear of Craig Pawson shouting. 'Ah yeah that is a definate penalty'. When, in my opinion. There is contact. Is it enough contact to disrupt Erling Haaland. I think on balance and on reflection. I think there is contact. Yet, I don't think it's as bad as everyone is making out, and I think Erling Haaland went down. After the contact was made. You could tell by Nelson Semedo's expression, it wasn't intentional. And he was aggrieved.
Just to add as well, that I know the Wolves players very well. None of them are violent people. They are all gentlemen. They are all hard working. They never deliberately foul other players. Some times they mis time their challenges. Some times they play to the tune that football is a physical/contact sport. Yet the way our team play. Wolverhampton Wanderers. We are not a dirty team, and we don't foul other players intentionally. So you can understand why we would feel aggrieved. And the players have spoken out against VAR and have felt very unhappy. And aggrieved. For each Premier League place. There is a couple of million pounds, and Wolves being a working class city. A lot of the employees at Molineux, are on minimum wage. I would even go as far to say. The Tika, and Hand Burger stands outside. These people aren't on a fixed wage, and only make so much of a profit per game. And with the rising amount of competition for food outside the Molineux. They are not raking in the thousands. They probably do make a small profit, and these are hard working, people. Who absolutely adore the fans. And the fans now, are going off football, the Wolves fans, have gone off football. Because of the way we have been treated by the FA.
So that's then going to effect revenue, and don't forget, the shoe string budget we were given. To spend on players, over the Summer, and the January transfer window. Because of the draconian Financial Fair Play Rules. From my point of view, this has taken discretion compeltely away from owners of football teams. I know some teams like Chelsea, have tried to work their way around it. By offering 8 year contracts, to spread the cost. Yet, Wolves knew if they over spent, they would get a fine or a points deduction or both. Because the Football Association, have an agenda towards the smaller clubs. And if a big club, like Manchester City, or Arsenal, or any of the othe big teams. Make mistakes with FFP. They go un-punished, yet the FA are just hostile and negative to the lower table teams. Like Nottingham Forest, like Everton, and like Wolves. The way Everton were treated was shocking. To get 10 points deducted, and they did well, under the circumstances to avoid relegation. Because they just steam rolled ahead, and got on with things. Yet these negative and controversial decisions, won't go unnoticed. They will get documented. And this battle between Wolves and the FA. It will continue. Dossiers will be printed. Documents will be printed. Lawyers will be getting involved, and eventually, when push comes to shove. Jeff Shi, is going to get lawyers involved to take legal action. Because deep down I think he's a man of principle. And a kind man, despite his critics. And I think he would possibly, potentially. I can't say for definate and I am not his spokesperson. Yet, he defininately could be looking at consulting lawyers. And when he does. He would have a good case.
Because the FA are breaching rules. In their rules, it says all of their officials, must adhere to the correct standards of the FA. There's also legislation in there saying officials must conduct their authority with respect, and must adhere to the guidelines, and the rules of officiating. To the highest order. Which they are not doing. So not only are they breaching their own guidelines. By hiring, Craig Pawson, and Stuart Attwell. Or what ever his name is. It's difficult to spell. In the summer. Howard Webb, he has to be making decisions on who he selects for the next season. I think that, like I said previously, I said this again.
Some people think his position is not tennable. I am giving him a chance to correct his mistakes. This was the reason this petition was started in the first place. Yet these bad decisions, that are being made. Are having a negative impact on Wolves, and I am politely asking the FA, to stop doing what they are doing. And to stop trying to add collusion, plotting, and conspiracy. To games. This agenda against Wolves has to stop. Oh, I know we have complained a lot.
Yet, you gave us reason to complain. It's not like we complained just for the sake of it. The majority of our fans, would actually be okay with the FA. If the FA treated us better. Yet, the FA, they are the catalyst for all of this. VAR is the catalyst for all of this. And the sooner Howard Webb, and wider members of the public realise this. People who might not know much about football. This is what signing this petition does. Keep on signing. Don't give up campaigning against VAR/The PGMOL/The FA. Because, we have to keep holding them to account. Which is exaclty what I am doing right now.
They have to account for their actions. I am giving them the chance to do this. What was going through their minds when these decisions were made? Where's the explanation, that we quite rightly deserve? Because I will be looking forward to one. And not one, that is just robotic, that just looks like a spokesperson has said it. We need an official explanation from Howard Webb. Because right now. I am very unhappy. Unhappy with him, being in charge of this. And unhappy with how he is conducting his officials. I am giving him the chance to explain himself. I am giving him the chance to make ammends. One the FA stop trying to micromanage the game. Once they stop having this agenda with Wolves and the other teams like Everton and Nottingham Forest. Once they are fair, and treat the game with more integrity. Then my work will be done. But right now, this campaign. Is just at the start, of where it's going. Because I am not going to buckle under pressure, and I am not going to let bad officiating deter me, away from this campaign.
I am being open, fair, and honest. I am being polite, yet I am being assertive, and asking for an explanation. And I know some fans will say, 'they don't care Adam'. Well, that has to change then. If they don't care. They have to start caring. Because this has gone on for too long. Start making the changes us football fans want. Let's start to see some change. This can only happen with the backing of other fans. And right now. I have nearly 220 people who have signed this. That is a lot of people, and their network must go into the thousands. So I have a big influence, on how things are run here. I am using this influence, to stand up for Wolves, to stand up for integrity, and to stand up for what is right. Our right to have a game, free of controversial decisions. And this Craig Pawson performance. Singing to the hymn sheet of Manchester City. Without even looking at Wolves, and considering our approach. Because they are a more powerful club, with more money. And a lot of people give Manchester City. A lot of compliments. Irrespective of how good a manager Pep Guardolia is. They couldn't have done this, without the 115 charges of FFP. That is being neatly swept under the rug. Corruption, and football. They don't go well together. This is corrupt, and this has to change.
