Update for April 10,2026
Hello Everyone,
Petitions continue to trickle in, we are currently at 123. For those who have just joined us, thank you!
We are patiently waiting to hear from the Inspector of Municipalities on our Formal Complaint.
I’ve been asked several times, did the Referendum include the Price Tag of $14.6 Mil? The straight forward answer is - No. However, in the lead up to the Referendum it’s alway been stated Publicly $14.6 Mil. Internally as a Trustee of the Board, the target has always been $14.6 Mil, right up until December 18, 2025. Then on January 16, 2026 at Special Meeting it was announced the Budget had increased to $16.6 Mil. It was again confirmed on Wednesday Night at the All Candidates Forum, that it is $16.6 Million. When you use Best Practices and add the Engineering Design Costs of $639,000, as soft costs, the overall Budget is sitting at $17.3 Mil. Can it go higher? Absolutely.
The Referendum asked to borrow $11.7 Mil, that’s been the confusing part for some Ratepayers who thought the overall cost of the Water Treatment Plant was $11.7 Mil.
Of the 3 Candidates who have come forward, I’m supporting Jon Scott (who is concerned about costs and mitigating same) and Steve Lam.
Onto to the Fire District Referendum, where very little of the Referendum was been observed. In my opinion this is completely wrong, without seeking Ratepayer Approval. It’s along the lines of “Open Hunting Season” on Ratepayers.
Fire District Voting Day is tomorrow at the Gospel Hall or Fulford Hall.
Please consider Voting - Courtney and I’m supporting the 2 New Candidates - Jenny McClean and Darryl Martin. Voter Turn Out is usually low, so if you can make the effort, it would be sincerely appreciated.
Thank you, Trustee David Courtney.
