Please schedule H. Res. 281, condemning unethical human organ harvesting in China, for a vote by end of 2014 session.
The Issue
House Resolution 281 calls for an end to the unethical forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience in China. This bipartisan resolution has garnered 237 (out of 435) co-sponsors so far, which is more than half of congressional members.
The resolution was marked up by the Foreign Affairs committee in July 2014 and is now waiting to be scheduled for a vote on the floor of the Congress.
Falun Gong practitioners have collected over a million signed petitions in support of H. Res 281. Representatives in all 50 states have been contacted and asked to co-sponsor H. Res 281.
The European Parliament passed a similar resolution in December 2013. Spain passed a new Criminal Code in November 2009 establishes penalties of up to twelve years in prison for people who encourage, promote, facilitate or advertise the procurement of illegal human organs trafficking. Israel passed a law in 2008 banning the sale and brokerage of organs. The law also ended funding, through the health insurance system, of transplants in China for Israeli nationals.
The unethical harvesting of organs of prisoners of conscience for profit is hard for many people to believe when they first hear about it. Multiple independent investigations have verified the truth of these allegations. The question now is, what is being done to end this heinous practice?

American patients continue to travel to China for organ transplants, and the medical community continues to cooperate with and train Chinese transplant doctors. Passage of H.Res.281 would help doctors, patients, and hospitals make informed decisions, and thus avoid becoming accomplices to the crime of forced organ harvesting.
Please sign the petition for the timely passage of H.Res.281. It will help save lives!
