Hornsby Shire Council has recently released its Draft Masterplan for Westleigh Park. 

Throughout all previous consultations with Council as part of the Westleigh Water Board Alliance (WWBA), proposals have been put forward for a criterium/road cycle racing course in the site plans, with a potential course included in the WWBA proposal to Council. However, the draft masterplan makes no mention of any criterium/road cycle racing course at all. 

The North Shore of Sydney is in dire need of a safe road racing venue that does not use public roads. With the current unavailability of HART for cycle activities due to COVID-19, all racing on the North Shore now takes place on public roads, with corresponding issues around safety and race approvals. 

Of more concern is the activities of the North Side Cycling Academy junior development academy, which currently has no venue to undertake training activities. 

We need to show Hornsby Shire Council that there is substantial demand for a safe road racing and training facility in our area. Please sign this petition, which will be included with a submission to Council in support of reinstating the road racing circuit in the Westleigh Park plans.
