Over the past year, parents, employees, and former employees have raised serious concerns regarding conditions at Harmony Elementary School and the handling of complaints and grievances by Iredell-Statesville Schools.

These concerns have been reported through multiple channels, including directly to school administration, Human Resources, district administration, the Superintendent, and members of the Board of Education. The community deserves to know whether these concerns were properly documented, investigated, addressed, and escalated as required by Board policy and applicable law.

The purpose of this petition is not to presume wrongdoing or determine guilt. It is to ask for an independent examination of what occurred and how Iredell-Statesville Schools responded.

Our Petition to the Board of Education
We, the undersigned parents, employees, former employees, and community members, respectfully request that the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education authorize an independent, third-party investigation and HR compliance review of complaints and grievances involving Harmony Elementary School during the 2025–2026 school year and through the present.

We request that:

• The review include complaints and concerns submitted to Harmony Elementary administration, Human Resources, the Superintendent, district administration, and Board members, regardless of whether they were formally classified as grievances.
• The investigator determine whether complaints were properly documented, investigated, resolved, and escalated according to Board policy and applicable law.
• The review examine allegations of retaliation, employees being discouraged or pressured not to pursue complaints or grievances, employment actions connected to complaints, repeated concerns that may have warranted district intervention, and compliance with applicable hiring and conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Current and former employees be provided a confidential means of communicating directly with the independent investigator without going through school administration or district Human Resources.
• The investigator be independent of Iredell-Statesville Schools administration and Human Resources and report directly to the Board of Education.
• At the conclusion of the investigation, the Board receive the investigator's unaltered findings and recommendations, with a public summary released to the extent permitted by law while protecting confidential student and personnel information.

By signing this petition, we are asking the Board of Education to independently examine the complaints and grievances raised concerning Harmony Elementary, determine whether Board policies and applicable laws were followed, identify any systemic failures, and take appropriate corrective action where necessary.

Our students, educators, families, and community deserve transparency, accountability, and confidence that concerns raised within our public schools will be heard and appropriately addressed.
