Presidential Pardon for satchithanantham Anandasuthakar
The Issue
honorable President Maithiripala Sirisena, We are petitioning to seek your intervention to grant s presidential pardon for Satchidanandam Anandasuthakar
Satchidanandam Anandasuthakar was arrested in 2007 for abetting an act of violence. Satchidanandam Anandasuthakar was convicted and sentence to life imprisonment in 2017.
The entire charge was based on his own confession which was obtained under torture and duress. S. Anandasuthakar has two children Kanitharan (13) and Sangeetha (11).
Anandasuthakar wife, Yogarani (32) passed away recently due to ill health last week. Stress caused by long term imprisonment of her husband contributed to yogarani’s health deteriorating.
Images of the grief stricken children and the daughter trying to aboard the prison bus with her father has broken many hearts in Sri Lanka and the world.
Your excellency has recently shown to the world how kind hearted you are when you met young children in public and at their residencies.
We sincerely hope that you will demonstrate the same compassion for this kids and pardon their father for the sake of their well being.
