Impose the maximum sentence for murdering a family pet

The Issue

Zachary Senner was arrest January 4, 2016 for the mutilation and fatal stabbing of a cocker spaniel named Brandy. The dog belonged to his brother. Stenner told police he tried to find a new home for the dog, but when that failed, he was asked "to get rid" of it. Instead of taking it to a local shelter, either the Wisconsin Humane Society or animal control facility, Stenner tried abandoning Brandy, but the dog returned home. Then on December 27, Senner took matters into his own hands, pinned the dog down, brutally slashed Brandy's throat, and took the handle of the knife to smash the Dog's windpipe. he then took the dog to a nearby woods, left her bleeding for dead. Brandy somehow managed to make her way back to the scene of the crime, the only place she knew as home. She left behind her a bloody trail. When Brandy was discovered in the yard bleeding and injured, Zachary Senner then decided to wait for the dog "to bleed out and die" in the yard. When Brandy did not die, Zachary Senner then took a knife, pinned the dog down again, and repeatedly stabbed Brandy in the chest and abdomen until she took her last breath. The senseless suffering poor Brandy had to endure and the criminal hands of Zachary Senner is beyond words. Judge Donald, we ask that you prosecute DA case number 2016ml000131 against Zachary Senner charged with breaking statute 952.02 mistreatment of animals/cause death classified as a felony under Wisconsin law to the fullest extent you are allowed under the current law. If Mr. Senner is able to hold down, stab, mutilate, dump a defenseless animal, what other heinous acts is he capable of?
