In recent discussions surrounding the North Fox Island memorial effort, a survivor identified Ted Lamborgine as being connected to the wider network of abuse that impacted children in Michigan during the 1960's-1970s.

Theodore “Ted” Lamborgine was a convicted child abuser who operated in Michigan and Ohio during that same era. In 2007, he pled guilty to multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct involving boys, and investigators have long considered him a person of interest in the still-unsolved Oakland County Child Killer case.

While he has never been formally charged in connection with those murders—or with North Fox Island—his name has appeared in numerous reports and investigations into overlapping rings of child exploitation that existed in Michigan at the time.

This update is about acknowledging survivors’ voices and recognizing how widespread and interconnected these crimes were. North Fox Island was not an isolated tragedy; it was part of a much larger system that preyed on vulnerable children and relied on silence to persist. If you want to learn more, look into the Detroit Cass Corridor and Oakland County Child Killer case.

As we continue to advocate for an official memorial, remembering names like Lamborgine’s underscores why this effort matters: to confront a buried past, to support survivors, and to ensure Michigan never forgets what happened to its children.
