Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25, 2026, was a name synonymous with music, generosity, and the American spirit. From her humble beginnings in the Appalachian mountains of East Tennessee to becoming one of America's most beloved entertainers and philanthropists, Dolly exemplified the American dream and the extraordinary difference one person can make.

Her songs—including "Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors," and "9 to 5"—have become part of the American cultural landscape. But Dolly's legacy extends far beyond music. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, millions of children have received free books, encouraging literacy and a love of reading from an early age. She also gave generously to disaster relief, healthcare, education, and communities in need.

Dolly deserves a lasting national tribute recognizing both her cultural contributions and her extraordinary record of giving back: a United States commemorative coin.

A Dolly Parton commemorative coin would celebrate not only an American music icon, but the values her life represented—creativity, generosity, perseverance, and an enduring commitment to helping others. Congress could also consider directing proceeds from the commemorative coin program to support childhood literacy, allowing Dolly's legacy of giving to continue through the tribute itself.

We call on Congress to introduce and pass legislation authorizing the U.S. Mint to issue a commemorative coin honoring Dolly Parton's life and legacy.

Please sign this petition and help us show Congress that Americans want to see Dolly Parton—and the very best of Tennessee and Appalachia—honored on a United States commemorative coin.
