SAPAKS, the employees' union to protect interests of government officials and employees belonging to the unreserved category, has strongly come out against reservation for SC-ST employees in promotions.Upset with the government's stand, SPAKS (also SAPAKS) is now on warpath and is preparing for a battle against the government decision. SPAKS i.e.Samanya, Pichhda Evam Alpsankhyak Warg Adhikari Karmachari Sanstha, claims to be representing not just the interests of Upper Castes but also minorities and backwards, who don't avail benefitsof promotions as SC/ST. Several caste groups, especially, those belonging to Upper Castes viz. Brahmins, Kshatriyas and Vaishyas, have supported the SAPAKS stand. The union has been giving memorandums to leaders across the state. The union is Upper caste-led but also claims to speak for the rights of backwards and minorities in government services. It has members of OBC and religious minorities too in its members. Also, it is increasing its membership in Madhya Pradesh. The aim is to tackle the clout of AJJAKS and APAKS, the associations of government employees belonging to SC, ST communities in Madhya Pradesh. SAPAKS wants government to implement High Court order and stop reservation in promotions. The association has been holding rallies across Madhya Pradesh.
