#Sanskrit_In_Mauritian_SchoolsKaama. Must we get or do everything we are told is "nice" or "good"?

Dear friends and supporters of the Dev Bhaashaa,
As usual I would like to share with you a reflection from the vast seas of Sanskrit knowledge. We are often told to control Kaama. And we often simplify Kaama to mean sexual desires. However the word Kaama in fact means mundane desires, fulfillment of pleasures of life and also sexual desires. In general banter, this is sometimes satired as "mujhe ye chaahiye, mujhe voh bhi chaahiye".
But that person who buys everything advertised on facebook or TV, follows every course their friends are following, gives free reign to all their desires, buys every clothing accessory they find nice, eating every kind of food they see, e.g. jalebi, pulao, (even if it may be vegetarian), talks and flirts with every online friend, is giving free reign to his/her desires and is basically not following the trait of Dharma called "Indriya Nigrah". Indriya Nigrah(control of the senses) also means not being volatile(easily angerable), not eating, drinking or desiring everything and nothing, controlling what we say and how we say it, what we touch, feel or hold. Indriya means senses(of which there are 5) and nigraha means control.
There is however, one stage of life where a person is allowed Kaama, and that is Grihashtha Ashram, where one must achieve Artha(wealth) as well as Kaama(within the bounds of normal society - and for married life, sex within the couple). To even kiss or cuddle someone you dont intend to marry is a sin, and like all sins, the consequences will be pain and suffering.
It seems that most Humans are unaware of the correct interpretation of desire and control of desire, and in fact, unknowingly, most modern humans are taught from a very young age to give free reign to all their desires, especially by over-indulgent parents that gift their kids i-phones instead of sending them to baitka, and the "love-stories" where lovers are only shown indulging each other but never supporting each other through difficult times. As they say "mujhe ye chaahiye, mujhe vo bhi chaahiye". I invite everyone here to ponder the meaning of controlling desire and living a life of true spirituality and achievement.
An another note,we are within touching distance of a new milestone, which is 1000 signatures. May I highlight that we are at 911 online signatures, but we also have launched traditional paper-based petitions as from last week at La Flora. All supporters are welcome to print the petition and have neighbours and friends sign it. This can be sent to myself. I am available on cbhagan@hotmail.com.
Again, i request all supporters and friends to please share this petition on your timelines, and through messenger to all your friends and relatives.

The final objective is to have 10,000 signatures. Today we stand at 9.11% of that target. We are just shy of 10% but I am confident that if every signatory shares this with their network, we will achieve this within a short timespan.
Namaste,
the divinity within me bows down to the divinity within you.
Arvind.
