Help Kirra save the prison diversion program that turned her life around

The issue

Last year I got into trouble with the law and I ended up at Penrith Court.

As a woman with an intellectual disability it was a very difficult time for me. The Cognitive Impairment Diversion Program (CIDP) saved me. Thanks to CIDP I got a full psychological assessment for the first time. My CIDP caseworker used the diagnosis to get me better supports and more funding from the NDIS. She took the time and had the patience to listen to what I had to say so that I got me the help I needed. She also helped prepare me for court.

So what has happened to me? Well, thanks to CIDP I got a diversion order which means I stayed out of prison and I had no verdict recorded.

What is life like now? I now see my psychologist regularly, I have a safe place to live and I have a job.

CIDP has turned my life around for the best.

The NSW Government wants to close down the CIDP and plans to stop funding it at the end of June this year. This is such an important program for people with intellectual disability who get into trouble with the law.

Please sign this petition and ask the Attorney General, Hon Mark Speakman to reinstate funding for this very important program.

Thank you for signing.
