Cyberstalking, simply put, is online stalking. It has been defined as the use of technology, particularly the Internet, to harass someone. Common characteristics include false accusations, monitoring, threats, identity theft, and data destruction or manipulation. Cyberstalking also includes exploitation of minors, be it sexual or otherwise. The harassment can take on many forms, but the common denominator is that it's unwanted, often obsessive, and usually illegal. Cyberstalkers use email, instant messages, phone calls, and other communication devices to stalk, whether it takes the form of sexual harassment, inappropriate contact, or just plain annoying attention to your life and your family's activities. An important fact about cyberstalking; it is often perpetrated not by strangers, but by someone you know. It could be an ex, a former friend, or just someone who wants to bother you and your family in an inappropriate way. How Cyberstalking Harms Cyberstalking can be terribly frightening. It can destroy friendships, credit, careers, self-image, and confidence. Ultimately it can lead the victim into far greater physical danger when combined with real-world stalking. Yes, we're talking serious stuff here. Victims of domestic violence are often cyberstalking victims. They, like everybody else, need to be aware that technology can make cyberstalking easy. -Cyber stalking can involve humiliation and embarrassment, in addition to harassment. -Cyber stalkers have been known to hurt people financially, such as by tampering with their accounts or trying to ruin their credit. -Cyber stalkers can also go after friends, family and acquaintances of victims. -Social media is a potential place to pick up or run into a cyber stalker. -It is best not to show/display fear to stalkers since this is what they may be after. -Cyber stalkers can be dangerous—they can turn out to be serial killers, child molesters, or psychotic individuals—yet another reason to take cyberstalking seriously. -Although the term cyberstalking is fairly new, the concept of “stalking” has been around for a long time. -Cyberstalking is a form of social terrorism—accordingly, it’s expected that laws dealing with this crime will become more and more stringent and merciless. -In spite of the fact that cyber stalking is a “virtual” crime, there is nothing virtual about it—it’s real and it’s as dangerous as any other type of on-the-streets crime. -Not all cyber stalkers are mentally ill or psychotic—some of them just want to get even with someone or they may want to get something out of the victim. These latter stalkers are, accordingly, committing several different types of crimes in addition to blatant harassment. -Contrary to popular opinion, cyber stalking is never “victim-less” or a white collar crime. Every victim of cyber crime is negatively affected, often in the same way other crimes would have affected them. -In spite of law enforcement activities, cyber stalking is getting worse. -When you know or experience directly cyber stalking, you must report it. Only by reporting it can you put a dent in this horrible source of crime. This gang continues to cyber-stalk and keep this family under surveillance. It is noted that they continue to add new members to their gang and continue to contact friends, family and associates behind the scenes as with the sharing of this petition it has become harder for them to be openly harassing. All reports and evidence is currently under review with authorities and other parliamentary representatives have been contacted. Here are the arch files full of evidence handed over to authorities. This does not include all of the video footage as well.
