STOP THE EXTORTION OF IMMIGRANTS BY THE HOME OFFICE
The Issue
One of the things that has bugged me and given me a huge concern lately and would like our parliamentary Members to tackle is the astronomical amount of money our Home Office is charging for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK.
The Home office has become very greedy and mastered their art of fleecing immigrants to regularise their stays! They have set in motion a Sherlock-like mechanism that would stop at nothing until it’s drawn the last drop of blood from immigrants.This system has become a money making venture now! They are more or less selling ‘indefinite Leave to remain’ even though the immigrants are legally qualified to remain.
For temporary leave to remain, an average family of four are now being charged £7,000 - £10,000 - depending on the ages of their children!
If they are given 5 or 10 years temporary leave to remain (depending on platform), they would still need to renew every 2.5 years, and are expected to pay the same amount of money or more all over again - depending on the going rate since it increases every year.
For instance NHS fee that was £500 couple of years ago has become £1000 per person!
One of my people described this process as ‘MONEY SLAVERY’ she said just when you’re getting over the previous debt, you’ll be entering into another in 2.5 years later.
Prior to 2003, Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK was free. But since 2003, fees have been introduced and have risen each year in April. ILR Fees were introduced at £155 in 2003.
However, from 6 April 2018, (which has risen since April 2019) the application fee rose to £2,389 (£2,999 premium) per person - dependants also pay the same fees!!! Mind you this does not include the lawyer’s fee!
This is putting unnecessary pressure on people and causing depression and mental illness! How does the Home Office expect someone not allowed to work or have access to public fund be able to raise such an astronomical amount of money!
In the last couple of weeks, I have asked the two people campaigning for parliamentary seats (Labour & Christain Alliance) what they are willing to do to ease this pressure. Something they don’t have answers to.
This cannot be allowed to continue! Something need to give!!!
I am asking you to help push the petition by signing and sharing with other people until we put the necessary pressure on those involved in the act to stop in.
I am calling on both Boris Johnson (Prime Minister), Keir Starmer (Labour Leader), The Rt Hon Priti Patel (Secretary of State) to take an urgent and deep look into this as it is causing a lot of pressure and depression in immigrants.
