Hollywood, Fix Your Color Grading Problem

The Issue

I'm tired of big-budget tentpoles constantly looking like ungraded S-LOG footage. For the past decade or so, the major studios (the biggest offenders being Disney, Netflix and even Universal) have been consistently slacking on making their blockbuster movies look as colorful and vibrant as they deserve to be on a big screen. It's an issue that I can't wrap my head around no matter how I hear people try to explain it, but it needs to change.

Recently, someone completely regraded the (entirely unnecessary) live-action remake of Moana to make it look as colorful as the animated original (you can watch it here), and it is jaw-droppingly pretty, but also makes the look of the actual film as of now even more embarrassing and inexcusable. If someone can make the colors pop like they should, unprompted, in their spare time, and get these kinds of results, then studios have absolutely no excuse. Audiences deserve better looking movies than this.
