As a student of one of the 300 freshmen affected by the University of Pittsburgh's lack of transparency and accountability, I have witnessed the challenges and stress myself and others are facing. Less than a month before Welcome Week, the university has over-admitted 2,000 students, leaving 300 freshmen without housing. This is over 6% of the incoming freshmen class.

This critical oversight has not only disrupted the start of what should be an exciting new chapter in our lives, but also left the students and their families scrambling for solutions. The inconvenience and anxiety caused by this situation are unacceptable and point to a larger issue of lack of transparency and planning by the University of Pittsburgh. Students have received little to no clarity about housing, transportation, dining access, and laundry facilities. 

It is crucial for the university to take immediate responsibility and offer tangible solutions to address the crisis. We firmly request that the University of Pittsburgh provide a discount on housing for the 300 affected freshmen and also offer comprehensive solutions for transportation, dining, and laundry to support the students.

The university’s failure to plan adequately and communicate effectively has placed an undue burden on students and their families. We demand transparency and accountability moving forward. Let's stand together and urge the University of Pittsburgh to rectify this situation promptly.
We deserve better from an institution

that promises to foster student success. The university must act swiftly and communicate clearly to regain the trust it has compromised. Students should not have to bear the consequences of administrative failures. If no action is taken, it sets a dangerous precedent for how future students may be treated.
