I am an animal lover and I am heartbroken by the horrific actions that have been uncovered at Miranda's Rescue in Humboldt County, California. Shannon Miranda, the founder of this so-called non-profit organization, has been entrusted with thousands of dollars from the public and numerous animal shelters across California for the care and protection of vulnerable animals. However, instead of providing a safe haven, he has betrayed this trust in the most appalling way.

   Evidence has surfaced suggesting that thousands of dogs are unaccounted for, with gruesome findings on his property of mass graves containing the remains of countless dogs, including four-month-old puppies with gun shot wounds to their heads . These dogs were meant to be cared for, and were adoptable and entrusted into the care of Shannon Miranda. Shannon Miranda reportedly mismanaged funds and misled the public by issuing fake adoption pictures, telling people and shelters that their beloved dogs had found homes when, in truth, they had not.  

   Shannon Miranda has been operating under the guise of a "no-kill, non-profit rescue," yet there have been social media testimonies from former employees, volunteers as well as their families and many other individuals, whom have  bravely come forward, of which reveal a dark history of cruelty and deception. It is  alleged that for more then 28 years, Miranda has been systematically killing dogs, and other animals, and disposing of their bodies in the surrounding areas, such as the Eel River, the property of Miranda's Rescue, the cliff of highway 36, property belonging to Shannon's parents and the property of Shannon's brother; (that was said to have mysteriously been put up for sale the day excavation began at Miranda's Rescue.  There have been numerous reports throughout the years of similar allegations however those allegations continued to be dismissed by the Humboldt Counties Sheriff, Mr.William Honsal . It is alleged that shannon miranda has internal ties within the HCSO, which explains why Mr. Miranda still to date has received no penalties or fines for permit non- compliance continuing  operation with a permit out of compliance for the past twenty years.  Mr. Mirandas statements appear to contradict one another and on numerous occasions,in which he included the reasons , "excuses"  for having to put dogs down " shoot them" as means of Euthanization. Recent reports published specify that there are 24/7 emergency vetrinarians on call and available for emergency situations and were available for Mr. Miranda. Prior reports have  documented, from multiple sources that years ago Shannon had used different vetrinarians whom ended up cutting ties with m him after he had been bringing them large numbers of what seemed to be otherwise healthy animals, and requesting that they be euthanized. Multiple dogs whom had come to Miranda's Rescue, originally without records of aggression , ironically have the same pattern of claims, by shannon miranda, deemed aggressive and ultimately shot and killed by shannon. It is apparent that Mr. Miranda deems animals to be aggressive without any supporting documentation or evidence. Mr. Miranda has admitted  to having to had put down ( aka shoots in his barn.,) dogs for emergency reasons. Many people have reported adopting dogs kept at the rescue which were labeled aggressive and have reported that the dog they adopted labeled as aggressive have infact turned out to not be aggressive at all. 

  **UPDATED INFORMATION:  ~ Just recently several major California  investigative teams  (federal & state) joined the humbolt county sheriff's office in an excavation after a second warrant was issued for Miranda's Rescue in fortuna , California. A project  that included using ground penetrating radar and the excavation of deceased animals in a particular location located on the property...  After three full days of excavation, the operation was wrapped up and the evidence is being further evaluated.  Animals found buried on the property were scanned for microchips at the site and evaluated on the scene by forensic vetrinarians. The teams initial findings were that most of the animals found during the excavation appeared to have died from gunshot wounds and contained fragments of ammunition upon X-Ray.  Currently the investigation is ongoing and additional evidence continues to be  processed. Results from the three day excavation consists of the following findings: 117 Intact bodies of canines , 21 detached canine skulls, a large amount of loose canine bones, collected for further evaluation, a bag containing bird bones, a horse, and 661 dog collars, were found in Shannon mirandas barn located at the rescue which is believed to be where Shannon miranda executes the dogs.  Many of the 661 collars recovered still had identification tags  attached; blood was identified and present on the walls in an area of the barn, and on the floor were multiple .22 cal rifle casings that were discovered by law enforcement . According to a recent statement released by Sheriff Mr. William Honsal, in response to the 661 collars found inside the barn ((many with identification still attached )) Mr. Honsal, the sheriff  suggests that although evidence was found in the barn suggesting that Miranda does shoot dogs, that the evidence found does not warrant that a crime has infact taken place...   Recent information also exists for Shannon Mirandas conditional use permit being reinstated with a deadline to bring the rescue up to code. Currently there have been no penalties or fines issues in response to the Rescues failure of compliance.

     ** I URGE YOU TO JOIN ME IN DEMANDING A THOROUGH AND COMPLETE REVIEW OF THE INVESTIGATION TEAMS CONCLUSION OF MIRANDAS RESCUES ESTIMATED INCOME AMOUNT FOR THE PAST YEAR COMPARED WITH THE IRS TAXES FILED BY SHANNON MIRANDA , AS WELL AS THE IRS REVIEW OF MIRANDAS FAMILY MEMBERS PULLING SALARIES FROM THE INCOME OF THE NON PROFIT RESCUE.

     **  I URGE YOU TO JOIN ME , DEMANDING THAT HUMBOLDT COUNTIES CITY OFFICIALS  RECEIVE A THOROUGH AND COMPLETE REVIEW OF CURRENT POLICIES AND THE ACTIONS TAKEN BY CITY COMMISSIONERS & CITY COUNSEL GOVERNING THE AREA OF MIRANDAS RESCUE. 

      ** I URGE YOU TO JOIN ME IN REQUESTING THE COMPLETE REVIEW  OF THE HCSO,  WITH A FOCUS ON MR. WILLIAM HONSAL, VIA PRIOR REPORTS AND  CITIZEN COMPLAINTS AND THE DOCUMENTED RESPONSES TO THOSE INCLUDING THE REVIEW OF HUMBOLDT COUNTIES COLD CASE FILES, MISSING PERSONS & UNSOLVED HOMICIDES/MURDERS. 

    IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL THAT WE SHINE LIGHT ON THESE HORRIFIC PRACTICES, AS WELL AS ANY OTHER ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES THAT MAY BE INVOLVED AND ARE TAKING PLACE AT MIRANDAS RESCUE AS AND OTHER LOCATIONS  SUCH AS THE LOCATIONS OF THOSE AFFILIATED. FOR THOSE  AFFILIATED  WHOM HAD KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ACT PROVEN TO BE CRIMINAL AND FAILED TO ACT IN SUCH A WAY TO PREVENT THE CRIME SHOULD ALSO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THAT CRIME AND BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. 

TOGETHER WE CAN ADVOCATE FOR JUSTICE FOR THESE INNOCENT ANIMALS. THE UNJUSTIFIABLE AND HORRIFFIC  ACTS COMMITED BY THE HANDS OF SHANNON MIRANDA /HIS AFFILIATES , AS WELL AS SEEKING JUSTICE FOR OUR FELLOW CITIZENS WHOM ENTRUSTED THE CARE AND WELL-BEING OF THEIR BE-LOVED  ANIMALS INTO SHANNONS HANDS WHILE BEING REQUIRED TO PAY OUTRAGEOUS & RIDICULOUS SURRENDER FEES, THAT WERE ULTIMATELY MIS-USED. WE NEED TO RESTORE INTEGRITY TO ANIMAL RESCUE OPERATIONS AND SEE TO IT THAT NOTHING SIMILAR TO THIS MIRANDAS RESCUE CASE IS EVER ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AGAIN IN AMERICAN HISTORY. 

    WE THE CITIZENS OF THE  UNITED  STATES  HAVE JOINED TOGETHER REGARDING A SITUATION THAT HAS LEFT US DEEPLY DISTURBED & CONCERNED ABOUT THE WELFARE OF ANIMALS, THE CURRENT LAWS AND POLICIES IN PLACE , WHICH HAVE ALLOWED ROOM FOR CRIMINALS TO JUMP THROUGH ITS LOOPS AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, ITS GOVERNMENT ENTITIES , AND THE GOOD NAMES UNDER RESCUES AND NON PROFITS ALLOWING MIS-USE OF DONATIONS, GOVERNMENT FUNDING AND THE HUMAINE CARE REQUIRED BY ANIMALS . MANY OF US HAVE BEEN LIED TO AND THE ANIMALS WE DEDICATED OUR LIVES TO, HAVE BEEN DESTROYED. WE ARE ALL DEEPLY HURT, WE ARE ASKING FOR ANSWERS &  ACCOUNTABILITY WITH MIRANDAS RESCUE, NEAR FUTURE LAWS CLOSING THE LOOP HOLES CRIMINALS USE TO JUMP THROUGH AND OFFERING MUCH HARSHER CONSEQUENCES.
