Hold Perplexity accountable for unlimited claims

Hold Perplexity accountable for unlimited claims
Il problema
We call on Perplexity AI, Inc. to immediately:
Remove all "unlimited" marketing language from https://www.perplexity.ai/pro OR restore truly unlimited access as originally advertised (no hidden weekly/monthly caps)
Publish a transparent, public "Limits & Credits" page showing exact quotas for Research, file uploads, images, and video—with real-time in-app quota displays (instead of the current vague descriptions at https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/en/articles/10352901-what-is-perplexity-pro
Update Help Center pages to match reality:
If image generation (https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/en/articles/10354944-can-perplexity-generate-images is unavailable in EU, state it clearly on that page AND on the Pro sales page
Correct the video generation page (https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/en/articles/11985060-generating-videos-with-perplexity to state that video generation is NOT available for Pro users and requires Max upgrade, or provide actual video generation access to Pro as advertised
Provide advance written notice (minimum 30 days via email) before any future reductions in service levels, as required by their own Terms of Service (https://www.perplexity.ai/hub/legal/terms-of-service Section 2.2
Offer pro-rata refunds or service credits to all users affected by the 2025-2026 downgrades, especially those on annual plans who paid upfront for features that were subsequently removed
Reinstate access for users banned via retroactive application of promotional code policies, or clearly disclose which partner codes are "legitimate" vs. "fraudulent" at the time of redemption
Regulatory Authorities: Please Investigate
We call on:
European Union:
European Commission (DG JUST) for misleading advertising under EU Directive 84/450/EEC
National consumer protection authorities in EU member states (AGCM Italy, UFC-Que Choisir France, Verbraucherzentrale Germany, etc.)
File EU complaint: **https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
United States:
Federal Trade Commission for deceptive trade practices under Section 5 of the FTC Act
File complaint: **https://reportfraud.ftc.gov
Better Business Bureau for pattern of consumer complaints (already documented since late 2025)
Why This Matters Beyond Perplexity
This case sets a dangerous precedent for all AI subscription services. If companies can advertise "unlimited" access, collect annual payments, then silently impose 99% quota cuts without accountability, no consumer is safe.
The AI industry is unregulated enough. We cannot allow blatant bait-and-switch tactics to become normalized business practice.
Your signature demands:
✅ Truth in advertising for AI services
✅ Binding notice requirements before service downgrades
✅ Refunds when companies fail to deliver paid features
✅ Regulatory oversight of subscription AI platforms
What Happens Next
Once we reach 10,000 signatures, we will:
Deliver this petition to Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas
File formal complaints with European Commission, national EU consumer authorities, and FTC (USA)
Share findings with consumer protection organizations (BEUC in EU, Consumer Reports in USA)
Coordinate with legal counsel for potential class action (US) / collective action (EU)
Affected users: Please share your story in the comments:
When did you subscribe (month/year)?
What feature reduction affected you most?
Did you receive ANY email notification before the change?
Were you denied a refund?
