The Issue

I've been unfairly targeted by Officer M. Garniss in Mitchell, Ontario. Like many others, I received an impaired driving charge that I didn't deserve. I managed to prove my innocence in court, but the repercussions were significant. Despite the court ruling in my favour, I had to pay $900 to restore my driving license and endured three months without the ability to drive legally. On top of that, I also faced $950 in towing fees.

Officer Garniss seems to have a pattern of accusing drivers of impaired driving without sufficient evidence, turning what should be a fair legal process into a frustrating ordeal for many innocent individuals. This officer doesn’t respect the Charter of Rights and appears to target people indiscriminately. This kind of misconduct tarnishes the integrity of our law enforcement, which should protect and serve, not harass and undermine justice.

This isn’t just about one officer's actions; it's about ensuring that our local police department is held accountable and that its officers adhere to legal standards and ethical conduct. Impaired driving charges have serious consequences and should only be applied when there is undeniable proof.

We need thorough investigations into Officer Garniss's practices and disciplinary actions if misconduct is confirmed. Let's ensure our community's safety and justice by demanding transparency and adherence to legal standards from our police force.

Join me in standing up for fairness and integrity. Together, we can bring about essential changes to guarantee that all community members are treated with respect and justice. Sign this petition and demand accountability from our officers to restore trust in Mitchell's law enforcement.
